The rich imagination of Jesuit poetry is deeply familiar and well loved. We know that Jesus was born “in the Moon of Wintertime,” that the Holy Spirit broods like a protective mother hen over the world with “ah! bright wings.” We have learned with Robert Murray in the school of compassion: “I did not pass over the yearling squirrel . . . Over his body . . . I traced the sign of the world's mending and said 'little brother, more innocent than I, remember me in the peaceable kingdom'.” Ready on your smartphone is PoetrySoup, where new Jesuit-inspired poems from across the globe are to be found. We will look at the spirituality and art that gives rise to this beauty and, if we are bold, try our own hands at a few stumbling words.

Following Dr. Ann Riggs's presentation, we'll discuss Loyola's MA in Spirituality program and the application process for those that are interested in learning more.
