About the MSW/MDiv at Loyola
Bridging one's faith with a desire to serve individuals and communities in need can be one of life's most powerful callings. The Master of Social Work/Master of Divinity (MSW/MDiv) dual degree program is designed to meet the academic, formational, and professional needs of individuals looking to answer this calling to integrate their spiritual faith with care for their community in a way that positively impacts lives.
The MSW/MDiv dual degree incorporates the Ignatian spirituality and social justice mission of Loyola's Institute of Pastoral Studies (IPS) with flexible on-campus and online delivery options and an exceptionally strong sense of community among students and faculty. It is a truly distinctive graduate learning experience.
Program Structure
Students in the program complete course requirements from the MSW and MDiv curricula, and also can make professional connections through internship opportunities at our partner agencies.
The MSW/MDiv dual-degree program can be pursued full-time or part-time. Classes are held at Loyola's Water Tower Campus, conveniently located off the Red Line in the heart of Chicago, and most of the courses are also offered online.

Students in the MSW/MDiv program advance their careers in a wide range of settings, including community organizations, church parishes, diocesan administration, hospital ministries, non-profit organizations, counseling centers, and universities, among others.
Graduates of the program can be found in roles such as social worker, counselor, pastor, pastoral associate, youth pastor, chaplain, campus minister, and teacher.
Because Loyola is a member of the Jesuit network of 27 colleges and universities nationwide, our graduates can access career advising services, resume and interviewing assistance, career fairs and events, and employment listings in our Career Services center, as well as at career centers at other U.S. Jesuit colleges and universities.

Tuition and Costs
The Divinity/Social Work MDiv/MSW is a dual degree program that awards separate degrees for each program completed. Therefore, cost will equal the summation of each individual degree program's tuition times the number of credit hours taken in that program. Some dual degrees may have shared credits that adjust the total cost of the program.
