About the MS in Business Analytics (MSBA) at Loyola

The Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) offers a unique blend of courses with a strong focus on theoretical and practical knowledge combined with hands-on experience in information systems and data analytics. Our cutting-edge curriculum emphasizes important skills and tools in the information systems and analytics space such as SQL, Python, R, Tableau, database and data warehouse modeling, data mining, data visualization, and data storytelling.

Program Structure

Courses are offered both online and in person at Loyola's Water Tower Campus, which is conveniently located off the Red Line in the heart of Chicago. The program is on a 10-week quarter system, and you can begin the program in the Spring or Fall quarter. The 12-course program can be completed in one to two years depending on the number of courses you take each quarter.

This program is eligible for an Accelerated Bachelor's to Master's degree. Earn a Master’s with only one extra year of study following the completion of your eligible undergraduate degree.

All MS in Business Analytics students will be awarded the Business Analytics (BA) Certificate when they complete the program, adding an extra credential to your resume. The BA certificate’s five graduate courses are encompassed within the MS in Business Analytics program.

The MS in Business Analytics is STEM-certified by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Science Foundation. With a national shortage of professionals trained in STEM-related fields, employers are actively pursuing STEM degree holders.

Not ready to commit to a degree? You can enroll in classes as a non-degree-seeking student. The non-degree-seeking option allows you to take classes before applying to a degree program, transfer credit to another institution, or obtain professional or personal enrichment.

You can apply up to three courses toward a degree if you later decide to apply and are admitted to the master’s program at Quinlan.

Participate in active student organizations, such as the Graduate Business Student Association, Graduate Women in Business, or the Rambler Investment Fund to improve networking and career skills.

Our Business Career Services team maintains relationships with area companies, ensuring that exciting and challenging internships/research opportunities are consistently available. Evening and Saturday classes help make fitting an internship into your schedule easier.

Dean’s Merit Scholarship

The Quinlan School of Business automatically considers each student admitted into Quinlan’s Next Generation MBA and MS programs for a Dean's Merit Scholarship. Eligibility is determined through a holistic review at the time of admission.

Graduate Business Student Scholarship

The Graduate Programs Office at Loyola University Chicago awards scholarships to Quinlan graduate students who demonstrate proven academic success and financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Statement of Purpose Details

Recommended for applicants with a cumulative GPA under 3.0 and for applicants who may feel that one or more parts of their application is weak, the personal statement provides the admission committee with more insight on your candidacy.

Official Documents

Official transcripts are those that are sent directly by the college/university to Loyola University Chicago. Transcripts sent by the student to Loyola are considered unofficial documents, and while they may be utilized for initial review of your application, official transcripts are still required. Official documents should be sent by the institution to gradapp@luc.edu.

International Applicant Requirements

An official English language proficiency exam is required for international applicants whose native language is not English. If you have non-U.S. educational credentials, you are required to submit an official transcript evaluation. The transcript evaluation cannot be waived.
